WE SHOW MODERN MEXICO TO THE WORLD THROUGH PRODUCTS AND EXPERIENCES

Our story begins with a dream shared by two people in a small workshop that opened its doors for the first time in 2012 to offer hand-woven chairs, and that today has become a solid company of more than 100 members, committed to the roots and values that made us grow.

INSPIRATION BORN IN MEXICO

We are creative souls, we grew up between colors and textures, we love design and we treasure the legacy of our Mexican heritage.  In each piece we pay tribute to our roots, valuing the careful work of each of our artisans and respecting the weaving techniques that they developed and perfected over the years.  Together with great designers and studios, we reinterpret the essence and immortalize tradition, bringing life to spaces with high-quality products and carefully selected materials.

At Mexa we are what we are thanks to the people who share their talent with us every day. That is why nothing is more important to us than people.
We strive to have an impact on the lives of our people, with programs such as the teaching of weaving techniques aimed at people from vulnerable groups, such as people in social rehabilitation centers and people in a state of mobility, like imigrants and refugees. WELDED STEEL

At Mexa we use a common alloy of iron and carbon whose carbon content varies up to 2 percent. We use MIG welding, this type of welding is the one that best suits our processes, allowing us to work slowly with clean lines. The welds are then carefully polished and sanded to a clean finish.

POWDER COATING AND METAL PRETREATMENT

Zirconium substrate pretreatment is a critical factor for developing maximum corrosion resistance and extend the lifetime of our products in outdoors environments. This is achieved through a 7-stage system and a zinc primer prior to the application of the color top coat, with lead-free polyester-based powders. Highly resistant to humidity and sunlight.

PVC ROPE

PVC is a durable material that is resistant to weathering. Due to its versatile properties such as lightweight, durability, flexibility and easy processability, it fits really well in our pieces. We offer it in a wide variety of colors and assure its performance with added UV protectant.

TEXTILE ROPE

We specially designed our textile rope using a fabric covering made out of polyester, among its properties, its very resistant and can withstand a good deal of wear and tear, our high quality polyester fiber holds its shape well and doesn’t shrink, dries quickly, making it very suitable for weaving the seating surfaces of our chairs.

SYNTHETIC PALM

Our synthetic palm fiber is made out of polyethylene raw material, it was developed special for furniture use and it stands really well in the elements, its variety of brown tonals, gives a realistic look and feel of a natural fiber, but with the capacity to be used in the outdoors.

NATURAL PALM FIBER

The palm fiber we use at Mexa is specially harvested off along the Mexican pacific coastline. This rope is specially threaded by twisting and interlocking the largest leaves, applying a certain amount of moisture. This material gives our pieces a very warm feel and look, Please note: our natural palm fiber is an indoor material.

NATURAL WICKER FIBER

Wicker has been used for centuries, traditionally made of plant origin, in our case, we use rattan fiber. Wicker is light, yet sturdy, making it suitable for furniture items. A water based lacquer is applied as sealant. Recommended for indoor use.

LEATHER

The leather we use is the byproduct of the alimentary industry. It is a a natural material, commonly used in furniture. We cut the leather into strips to use as weaving material, or shape it in different ways. Over time, leather takes on a natural worn look and feel. Recommended for indoor use.

WOOD

All of our wooden products are made out of responsible environmentally sourced woods. We use three kinds: Teak, Cumarú and Rosamorada. To protect it, we apply TWP sealants, this oil is specially formulated to preserve and enhance its natural warmth, beauty and integrity.
Although our wood is suitable for outdoor use, we recommend covering when not in use.

UPHOLSTERY

We use Sunbrella fabric to build our cushions, these fabrics are made from 100% solution-dyed acrylic. Therefore, they share a lot of core characteristics like being breathable and UV, water, mildew and stain resistant. To make the cushions, we now use a waterproof inner cover that protects the foam filling from moisture, making the cushion completely suitable for outdoor use.
